A failure to produce marks can be caused by a few different issues. In this article we will discuss testing procedures that can be used to determine what the cause is and how to fix it.
Testing procedures:
1. Check your machine to make sure its components are running properly.
2) Move your gantry to the upper left hand side of the work area. Run a job here. If it engraves in this position, then it can be classified as an alignment issue. We recommend viewing the article here for more information.
3) Turn off the lights and observe the glass tube through the window. Does it turn pink or there is no light when firing. If there is light, your power supply can be rule out as it has passed the plasma ignition stage. Your laser tube will need to be replaced.
4) If you have no light, then disconnect the plug from the power supply to the control board and test the tube by pressing the pushbutton switch on the power supply and observe if it fires. If you don't remove the harness to the control board, the protection switches (lid switch, water switch) will not allow the power supply to fire. If it fires then your tube and power supply are likely fine. The issue is likely with the water sensor (kinked line, backwards, low water), or lid switch (wire disconnected or magnet not aligned).
